Setting up Your Pages
Fortune works best with a static front page and blog posts displayed on a different page within your site, so be sure to check out our guide to giving your site a static front page. Once your static front page is set up, assign it to the Front Page template from the Page Attributes pane.
Customizing Your Front Page
Front Page Template has six sections: Introduction, Feature page #1, Feature page #2, Recent blog posts, Recent testimonials and Homepage-specific widget area. All those sections are optional except the Introduction section.
Introduction
Introduction section displays your homepage title and content along with the featured image.
- Add an introduction text to your site. For best results, we recommend a couple paragraphs.

Featured Page #1 and Featured Page #2
Those sections are optional. If you want to display those sections on your site then you need to set them in the Customizer:
- Head to Appearance → Customize → Theme → Front Featured Page #1 (or Front Featured Page #2)
- Select your page from the dropdown list under Featured Page. Please note: in order to display a grid layout in this section, you need to select a page that has the Grid Template.
- Choose a layout from the dropdown list under Section Layout. Please note: this option is only available for the Grid Template. If you choose a page with a default template then the section will have a full width layout.
Recent Blog Posts
This section is optional. In order to display Recent Blog Posts section, you need to make it visible in the Customizer:
- Head to Appearance → Customize → Theme → Front Recent Posts
- Check Display Recent Posts.
- By default, this section displays the title “Latest News” above the posts. You can edit this by adding your own title into the text field under Section Title.
- Specify how many posts you want to show per page under the Number of posts to show label.
- Choose a layout from the dropdown list under Section Layout.
Recent Testimonials
This section is optional. In order to display Testimonials section, you need to make it visible in the Customizer:
- Head to Appearance → Customize → Theme → Front Testimonials
- Check Display Testimonials.
- Specify how many testimonials you want to show per page under the Number of testimonials to show label.
- By default, this section displays the title “Testimonials” above the testimonials. You can edit this by adding your own title. Go to to Appearance → Customize → Testimonials and type your own title into the text field under Testimonial Page Title
Homepage Widget Area
Fortune includes homepage-specific widget area which is located under the main homepage sections. You can configure this widget area under Appearance → Widgets.
If you want to add “Call to Action” text like the demo site, use a CSS class: cta.

You can your HTML code to the Text widget.
Adding Site Logo
Fortune supports the Site Logo feature. To add your own logo, navigate to Customize → Site Title and click “Add logo” button in order to select a logo image.
Adding Featured Images
Fortune supports Featured Images on both posts and pages. Learn how to add a Featured Image to your post or page.
Displaying Custom Menus
- In order to set up site’s menus, navigate to Appearance → Menus.
- Create a new Custom Menu.
- Don’t forget to select “Primary Menu” location in the Menu Settings if you want to display a menu next to the site title and “Top Bar Menu” location if you want to display a menu above the site title.
- Click the Save Menu button when you are ready.
Displaying Social Icons
Fortune automatically adds social icons based on the link you’ve set in the Social Menu.
- Navigate to Appearance → Menus
- Create a new Custom Menu.
- Check the box next to the “Social Menu” label and then click Save Menu.
- To add your social links, select Links from the menu on the left.

- Click the Save Menu button when you are ready.
Setting Up The Full-Width Template
Create or edit a page, and assign it to the Full Width Page template from the Page Attributes pane.
Setting Up Grid Page Template
- Create or edit a page, and assign it to the Grid Page template from the Page Attributes pane.
- The Grid Page Template displays all child pages of the page in a grid. Learn more about creating sub-pages (or child pages).
- The featured image, the title, and content from each sub-page creates a grid item. You can have display different post summary lengths by using the More Tag.
Setting the Sidebar Position
If the sidebar is active, it will be displayed on the right by default. You can also choose to move it to the left.
- Navigate to Appearance → Customize → Widgets → Sidebar.
- Select your option from the dropdown list.
- Click Save & Publish
Testimonials
With Fortune, you can add testimonials easily by going to Testimonials → Add New in your dashboard. Testimonials are composed of the testimonial tex, the name of the person, and an image (which can be added as a featured image).
All testimonials are displayed in a testimonial archive page. The testimonial archive page can be found at http://mygroovysite.wordpress.com/testimonial/ (replace http://mygroovysite.wordpress.com/ with your own site URL).
Please note: the URL for the testimonial archive page must end with /testimonial/ (as shown in the example above) for the page to display testimonials properly.
You can add the testimonial archive to a custom menu using a custom link.
Post Formats and Sticky Posts
Fortune supports Post Formats and Sticky Posts. Fortune includes the following post formats: Aside, Status, Quote and Link.
Widget Areas
Fortune offers three widget areas, which can be configured in Appearance → Widgets.
Custom Background
The background can be customized by going to Appearance → Background.
